Bluebonnets, bikes and baby food!

Except for the wind we had such beautiful weather on Sunday that we decided to take the kids to the park for a picnic dinner. We brought Emma's new bike along (it's one of her early birthday presents). We walked about two miles and she rode almost the whole way!! She didn't like it when she went down hill and her bike picked up speed but other than that she did a great job!! We also got a chance to take pics of the kids in the bluebonnets at the park, got some great pics of Emma but when we put Bryan down with her we had trouble getting both the kids looking at the same time.

I also spent a good part of the day on Saturday making babyfood with my new BEABA Baby Cook...I LOVE IT!! I made butternut squash, yellow squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, and pears! So Bryan dined on butternut squash at the picnic!

Yes, Emma picked a bluebonnet. I told her it was against the law but then she asked "what's 'against the law' " try explaining that to a three year old!!

He likes it...

I had wanted to wait until Bryan was closer to 6 months before we started solids, but he has been lunging towards the table at dinner so we thought we would give cereal a try to see if he was ready....well he liked it, he liked it alot!! I remember Emma's first experience with solids wasn't so great, she spit everything out and we ended up giving it a break and trying a couple weeks later...Bryan seemed to slurp every bite off the spoon and he cooed and was so excited every time the spoon got near his face! Solids here we come....

Some pics from the past...once Emma got the hang of solids she LOVED her veggies!!

Emma's first try with cereal, not so happy!

Hoppy Easter!

A few pics from the busy weekend (sorry the pics ended up in reverse order)...

Emma and Bryan in the yard at Patrick's Aunt Susan's house.

Just wish we could have gotten a pic where they were both looking at the camera, but I think I am coming to accept the fact that that may not happen for a couple years!

We tried to get a family pic after church, didn't work so well either!

Tried to get a pic before church at the house, not the best pic either, but you can see their matching outfits...I am sure they will hate me for that when they get older but I just couldnt help myself!

Emma with Aunt Haley and Boompa after the Easter egg hunt at the church on Saturday.

Easter egg hunt at church on Saturday, I signed Emma up for the 3-5 age group even though she is a month away from turning 3. She was at the table when I told them she was in the 3-5 group and she turned to me and said "Mommy I'm not 3." I had to explain to her that we were going to pretend she was 3 because she was so close....so all weekend long she kept telling me "Mommy let's pretend that I'm 3"!

I was cleaning out the toy room and Emma's bed room and decided it was time to clean out the baby dolls (Emma has had a little bit of an obsession with baby dolls since about the age of 1, so needless to say she has collected quite a few over the past two years) I had Emma help me pick out the ones she wanted to give to kids who didn't have baby dolls, we packed up a whole bag to take to the area homeless shelter this week. This is the after pic, before pic below.

Before pic of ALL the babies!

Bryan is growing out of clothes like crazy...pretty much all that fits him anymore is 12m or bigger!! My sister got him this overall set when he was born and it looked so BIG, now it fits!!

Firefighters, Breathing Treatments, Big Sister, and Dresses...

A few random pics...

Emma has an Easter Party at school tomorrow and I got all inspired and decided to make her a pillow case dress, cannot really see if from the picture but I even took out the embroidery attachments to my machine and put her initials in the middle...I am pretty proud of myself because I haven't pulled out the sewing machine since Bryan was born!!

I love it when I catch Emma playing with Bryan, she is such a sweet big sister!!

Just thought this was too funny...when I was giving Bryan his breathing treatment the other night he grabbed on to the mask and was holding it himself!

My Aunt in Seattle sent this adoreable firefighter rain jacket and rain boots for Bryan, she said they were for the "rainy season," she obviously doesn't know Texas because we only have the following two seasons "dry" and "really dry" so I had to get them on him and take a pic just incase we don't have any rain before he grows out of them!!

A friend for tooth number one...

Bryan's bottom tooth number two made its appearance today!! We hardly even noticed until we were getting Bryan ready for bed and he was laying in his bath with a huge smile. He's been such a trooper...teething and breathing treatments all in the same week!!

Although I don't have any pics yet (hopefully this will remind my sister to send me some) Emma has been enjoying some time with her Aunt and soon to be Uncle this week. Her Aunt Gooshy (yes, there is a story to that name) took off the whole week to entertain her finance's family whose in town from Georgia, and Aunt Gooshy has been so gracious to allow Emma to tag along. Monday they went to the American Girl store and had lunch with their new babies (yes, I said babies...Nana sent Emma with money to buy new babies for her birthday)...and tomorrow they are headed to the zoo.

Asthma

Well Bryan joined the ranks of the other Shortalls and McMahons that have asthma, today he had his first breathing treatment...the whole family has had a cold this past week, including Bryan, but his developed into a nasty wheezy cough so we took him in to the doctor this morning, and although his doctor doesn't like to diagnosis asthma at this age she said that with the family history and the way he responded to the albuterol treatment this morning it is more than likely that he has it. I guess it was to be expected but I guess I just didn't think he would have issues with it this young...I think Emma was 18 months old before she had her first asthma episode...oh well at least at his age he cannot really pull the mask off his face yet!

Where did the weekend go??

Cannot believe it is already Monday, where did the weekend go?? We spent most of Saturday working on the room that we enclosed and picking out a new kitchen table to go in it...we started on the slate flooring and I am excited to see it complete!! Sunday we got to meet my soon to be brother in laws family (or at least part of the family) He has a five year old niece and Emma was infatuated with her! Both girls are going to be flower girls in the wedding so it was so sweet to see them meet and have fun together.

Thought from the weekend...summer is coming, although it is abnormally cold for this time of year we ventured into my parent's pool twice this weekend (the pool is heated)!! Emma was so excited to put her swim suit on, cannot wait to see how far she comes with swimming this year!!
